WELCOME HOME

It is something typical feel relieved when you see the Memory Hill after a long trip by car, it reminds you that you have arrived to town, to your safety home.

It was named Memory Hill by the founders who buried their dead on it´s slope. Afterwards the goverment raised the first cementery on it´s side land.

It is the only natural rise in the city, wich have been used as a place where people can have fun, ride a bycicle, run, watch all the city, sunrises and sunsets sitting by their cars. People can do it with friends, loved ones, family or if you feel going by your own it is ok, you will enjoy your evenings with a beautiful view.

In the top of the hill you will see a giant statue of the "Virgen del Valle" , who people says protects us from up there and watch the city, this is a sign of faith people tend to cling.

Now something creepy...

There is a story telled by habitants about two tragic lovers who fell in love dancing on a ball in La Pergola.
The story begins with a young boy who went to the ball just to dance with his friends. He never knew what was going to happen.
After midnight a beautiful lady with big eyes, dark and long hair came into the ball with a long white dress. Everyone who was there looked at her immediately. The boy suddenly fell in love just by looking her ,so he asked her for a dance, invitation she accepted.
After a few hours of dancing she said him it was late, then the boy offers to take her home just to spend more time with her. When they were going to the girl´s place, he had noticed she was cold so he borrowed his jacket.
The next day the boy noticed he had forgotten his jacket, he went to the girl´s house and asked for her to a women who seemed like her mom, the woman told him he had been a mistake cause the girl he had mentioned was dead. She took him to the cementery where her daughter´s grave was, just to find out the jacket was in the grave.

Now every time you visit Los Mochis, you will remember a story that took place in the Memory Hill and can happen to you. Be prepared.

MAVIRI

One thing that I didn’t mention in the last post, it’s that Los Mochis is 20 minute drive from the sea.  Can you believe it ? This is something cool for  people who enjoy spending time on the beach.

Maviri is an island where you can swim, relax and have a beautiful evening by the beach. You could find a variety of restaurants that offer seafood where the “pescado zarandeado” is the most requested.

By the drive to El Maviri you can see a singular place, the “Cueva de los murcielagos” where thousands of bats leave the cave at sunset. It is a wonderful show not seen anywhere. Near of that you can also find islands full of sand dunes, where the desert and the sea become one.

If you are interested with the boat tours, you can go and visit the Topolobampo bay, and if you are lucky you would see  “El Pechocho”. El pechocho is a dolphin who plays with you, he would take a stick from under the sea and put him in his mouth like he were a dog, but if he is not in the mood I guess you are not lucky because you are not going to see him.

If you visited Los Mochis and you didn´t go to El Maviri, well you didn´t visit Los Mochis.

First post

This blog is based in a homework. Teacher THANK YOU! In this case we were supposed to post once a week about anything we like, from now until the end of the module.
I promise to dedicate some time and try to do my best to create a place where can have fun.

Well, first I had some dilemmas with the theme was going to write about. My first decision was to write about things that i like,  but then realized that was like a selfish thing, so I rejected it .Then my boyfriend suggested me to write about Los Mochis and I thought it was a good idea. So I ´ll  be posting some things about los mochis, for example places to visit, the weather, history and so on.

What do you know about Los Mochis ?

Los Mochis means place of turtles, it is in Mexico, in the state of Sinaloa with 256,613 habitants.

Los Mochis was founded in 1893 by a group of American utopian socialists who were adherents of Albert Kimsey Owen, an American civil engineer who built the first irrigation ditches in the valley.

The economic development of the city began with the sugar industry, but in recent decades, the agriculture is the most practiced industry.

Climate in Los Mochis is semi-arid wet and dry, summers are extremely hot and winters are very warm, rainfall concentrates in the summer and it is common to see thunderstorms and even occasionally hurricanes in August and September, but winters are dry with almost no rainfall.

Los Mochis is a beautiful city to live, it has lots of places to visit, such as The Memory Hill, Sinaloa  Park, downtown,  and a lot of malls where you can spend family time.  It is a modern city with a lot of hospitals, schools, banks, hotels and malls with the benefit that the traffic is less crazy.

I highly recommend Los Mochis as a tourist destination because of its people and comfort. You can do some sports, have fun, live peacefully and many activities.

Come and visit Los Mochis ! you won´t regret.
